Negativity affects us all in many ways. When we are faced with negativity, we go through little to major mental health crisis; it depends on the impact of the cause of negativity in our life that affects our normal day-to-day routine.

When that happens, there are various ways we deal with it. Some people prefer to just stay mum and wait for it to fade away. Some people fight back and some just sit back with popcorn and direct the negativity to somewhere or someone else.

When negativity surrounds you, you need to learn that it is only a part of life; sulking because of it for a while is okay but letting it affect the major part of your daily life is not.

How to best deal with negativity

Fight Positive: I know it sounds like an oxymoron but it’s true. When you are facing negativity, over-power it with your positivity. So, when, for example, someone comments on your pictures or post negatively or with hatred, you should follow the Gandhian path and engage in a more positive way than stoop to their level of negativity. This is a good way to go forward and also morally right, but there will be times where these “trolls” will push you to your limit and you would want to either engage or just give them a piece of your mind, but you still don’t.

There are better ways to deal with all this. Take for example the Cadbury’s Purple heart campaign; it is all about dropping a purple heart emoji when you see someone cyberbullying someone. This went on to become a very famous campaign against cyberbullying. People don’t understand that they are being a bully when they start attacking any famous person’s or a famous company’s post or blog. What we should keep in mind is that these people are humans too. Being famous doesn’t make them more different than us. They are humans and we should be considerate of their feelings.

Mummified: This is another way to deal with negativity online. Stay mum/quiet and wait for it to pass. But this isn’t the best way because you won’t be voicing your opinion or your side of the story. Its like you are giving the trolls and the bullies the power to speak over you or undermine you. That is a tad unacceptable. However, many a people choose this as it means not indulging with the trolls and negativity first-hand.

Own It: Reaching this stage needs a lot of self confidence and an extreme amount of self-love. You should accept what they call you and own up to it. This is the trend that’s been going wild these days People often indulge in sarcastic comments or level with bullies to shut them up.

Take action: When these bullies start bullying people, they don’t care who it is and how it affects the people they are bullying. Now there are many actions you can take against these bullies, you can report them on apps like Instagram, Facebook and the authority will take appropriate actions against them. People also tend to expose them and urge their friends to report/ block them too, so the troll is exposed and an action is taken against him/her and they learn their lesson.

Online trolling is not a good thing; this is a form of bullying that doesn’t show or gain attention but affects the bullied person the same way physical bullying would. QNET has been facing a lot of online bullying and trolling since some half-witted people started spreading false news about QNET scamming , which is false and is stated by the Supreme court of India as well.
